Becoming An Educator :: Education Teaching Teachers Essays
Becoming An Educator Waking up every morning, excited, motivated and ready to go to school. This is how I felt as a child and now how I want to make other children feel. When I attended school all children loved to be there, but in today's society that isn't the case. So many of the rules in school today have changed. So many issues have arose in today's society like war and violence that students are scared to be at school where they feel unsafe but I , as a future educator would like to change children's outlooks on school. There are many reasons for public schools. The rules however changed tremendously. When you walk into a kindergarten classroom today you see students learning their alphabet, their numbers, playing with others, and coloring pretty pictures. This is what education should consist of. Even though everyone bases everything around learning, it has to include fun to catch the students' attention. Education is so important because without an education you can't proceed in everyday life. When you're young, education is fun and then things get somewhat more difficult as you continue on throughout college. You wonder, is it really worth it, doing all this work just to make a living? Yes it is because if doing all this work can lead you to doing something you love then every minute is worth it. When I walk into a classroom I look at every student and set goals for myself and hope that everyday when I leave that classroom I have taught someone something new that they didn't know before they met me. As a teacher I hope to accomplish achievement in my classroom. I will only set my standards at a high level because that is how I was taught when I was a child, I will not push my students to do more then they think they can. I always remember having a teacher walk into your classroom the first day of school and saying, "I want to be just like that when I grow up." I hope my students can look at me and say that and I also hope they learn something they didn't know before. In my classroom I want my students to enjoy themselves but at the same time I want them to walk out of my classroom with a new perspective.

Road to Hell
Baker, bothered by this, feels he needs to raise the issue and break-through he seams at the last meeting with his successor. Unfortunately, do to the lack of importance of communicating across cultures portrayed by Baker and his unawareness when it comes to his ladder of inference, Baker has unintentionally created a hostile atmosphere which has left the company with no successor as Chief Engineer. The ladder of inference is a common mental pathway of increasing abstraction, often leading to misguided beliefs. The ladder of inference begins with observable data and experiences. Ross, 1994). For example, Baker, as he begins thinking of the creditsâ⬠and ââ¬Å"debitsâ⬠associated with Rentals, he claims because Rentals spent four years at London university It has heightened his sensitively to any sign of Dallas coming from expatriates. Baker, by observing what was going on in the work place (Jackson's complaints about Rentals' rudeness), has selected certain data from what he observed and put personal meanings behind it that may be untrue. This has caused him to make assumptions after the meanings he has added to his observations.Rentals' claims that if a Barracking had behaved in an equally obstruct manner he would have reacted in the same way. He claims there are also other people in the company, also expatriates, who felt the same. Baker assumed because Rentals was a Barracking that he would not get along with expatriate senior managers and he was racially conscious. When, In reality, he was of a new Barnacle generation, who was well educated and professional, open to people of other cultures. Because of Baker's assumptions about Rentals he took action without adjusting or realizing his ladder of Inference, damaging the relationship further.Lastly, the reflexive loop, which determines our beliefs that influence what data we will select next time, influences the way Baker continuously feels about Rentals. He continuously feels as thought he has to c orrect Rentals way of being racially conscious without asking Rentals what exactly is going on or how he feels about the situation. Communicating across cultures can be difficult and challenging for all employees in a company, including senior level management. No two groups see the world exactly the same way (Island & Turner, 2011) and through analyzing the case ââ¬Å"The Road to Hellâ⬠¦ E can see that this is In fact true. If the ideas behind cross cultural misconception, cross cultural misinterpretation, and cross-cultural miscalculation, are not recognized as Important, companies, Like Continental Ore, can be left with a disastrous situation among managers which leads to poor performance for the company over all. When talking about being aware of cross-cultural selective (Island & Turner, 2011), Baker only noticed how Rental's acted with his fellow Barbarians and only took into account Jackson's complaint. Because Rentals studied in London and represents the professional educated Barracking, he is sensitive to racial issues and he misinterpreted Baker's casual references to European history as putting down his country. What Baker did was stereotype all Barbarians when really Rentals' was part of the professional, well educated, new generation of Barbarians with different viewpoints.Stereotyping, a form of disintegration that organizes our experience and guides our behavior toward ethnic and national groups, is only effective when people understand other cultures but act appropriate in new situations. Disadvantages Of Career Counseling - 847 Words
All the above-mentioned assessment and inventories can be very beneficial to those who donââ¬â¢t have an exact or clear-cut view of themselves or their future career. I especially feel they could be useful to high school seniors in their decision of whether they want to attend a four year college, two year college, technical training program or go right into the workforce. At this very young age most will not know what they want to do for the rest of their lives and many may not realize they may change careers more than a few times. These tests, in combination with an aptitude test, may help individuals to also find areas in which they are naturally and intrinsically skilled in order to assist them in making a realistic career choice. However, I have gravitated to career ar eas as suggested by my score automatically in my lifetime. This, I feel, suggests the validity of the U.S. Dept. of Labor interest inventory. This inventory presented some careers that, if I were of a younger age, I may consider. A third theory I feel relates well to my personal preparation and construction of a career plan in relation to the CDMSE assessment is the person-in environment perspective. I can clearly see a correlation between my upbringing, culture, religion, social system in which I was raised and education experiences (Zucker, 2016). Being middle aged allows me the benefit or advantage of being able to look back over the years as an adult and visualize all the ways in which I have indeed been influenced. With this knowledge, I have just been able to choose my environment to a large degree. Additionally, I have learned to empower myself by contemplating life, events and career decisions based on William Glasserââ¬â¢s Choice Theory approach. This was not a theory we discussed in class however, I feel it may have a place in the career counseling session on some level.
